We start out the new year with some awareness about life and relationships. From "What We Regret", to "Gaslighting", "Understanding Each Other" and ending with "The 8 Conscious Connections", January is a month where we can start the year with some real growth!
The goal for all of the events is to create awareness. As we see things more clearly, we can stop reacting to triggers based on our patterns from the past and start responding to life based on our goals and dreams. The events are fun, affordable and relevant. We discuss important subjects in a relaxed setting that encourages open and honest discussion. Click on the Event Titles Below to Learn More! We spend a lot of energy looking for shortcuts to save time, and sure, those shortcuts add up. But when we look back, our biggest time regrets aren't spending too much time on Twitter or mismanaging our daily tasks.
Life is full of choices, and many of them come with uncertainty. We can never know what might have been if we had chosen differently. No life will ever be completely clear of opportunity for regret. Failed relationships, missed opportunities, poor judgment calls. Some choices seem easy at the time and later turn out to have been poorly informed; others are difficult from the beginning. But some regrets are more fundamental, greater in scope. They tend not to focus on a single moment or area, but how life is lived. This event helps us to take a look at what we are doing right and to identify a few of the things we might want to start doing so that we don’t have regrets later on! Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that’s seen in abusive relationships. It’s the act of manipulating a person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them. A victim of gaslighting can be pushed so far that they question their own sanity.
The term “gaslighting” comes from a play and subsequent movie called “Gaslight.” In the movie, the devious husband, played by Charles Boyer, manipulates and torments his wife, played by Ingrid Bergman, to convince her she’s going mad. Gaslighting, whether intentional or not, is a form of manipulation. Gaslighting can happen in many types of relationships, including those with bosses, friends, and parents. But one of the most devastating forms of gaslighting is when it occurs in a relationship between a couple. Let's take a closer look at Gaslighting so that we can identify it and either stop doing it or stop being the victim of it!
